Our stunning infinity pool is the heart of the Mateves outdoor experience. Positioned to capture the morning light and offer cooling respite during the afternoon heat, it is surrounded by lush tropical plantings, sun loungers and a poolside bar.
The pool is heated during the cooler highland evenings, ensuring a comfortable swim at any hour of the day.
Our restaurant celebrates the extraordinary produce of the Arusha region — volcanic-soil vegetables, fresh Kilimanjaro spring water, line-caught Lake Victoria fish, and heritage-breed meats from local farms.
Breakfast is a lavish affair served until 10:30am. Lunch and dinner menus change daily, blending East African culinary tradition with contemporary international technique.
Two acres of meticulously maintained tropical gardens surround the lodge — a living tapestry of indigenous plants, flowering trees, aromatic herbs and resident birdlife that changes with every season.
Morning garden walks with our resident naturalist are available for guests wishing to learn more about the extraordinary flora of the Arusha highlands.
From the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Mateves journey begins. Our drivers meet you in the arrivals hall with a name board, and transport you in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to the lodge.
